Ari Lennox
Courtney Shanade Salter, better called Ari Lennox, is an American musician and singer who hails from Washington, D.C., who was the first woman to be signed to J. Cole's Dreamville Records record label. On October 21, 2016 she dropped Pho, her debut EP on the label Dreamville Records. This was when she gained her first the attention of her peers. Shea Butter Baby her debut album was released on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox began posting her music to the internet in 2012 when she released her debut mixtape, Five Finger Discount and debut EP Ariography in 2013. In 2014, Ari Lennox continued posting her music on the internet, including her self-released single Bound. In 2015, she was featured in Omen's Elephant Eyes album on Sweat released on the 21st of July. J. Cole asked her to work with him on Rihanna's reference. In the following year, her music was circulating all over Dreamville. On the 8th of December, it was revealed that she had officially signed by Dreamville Records. Backseat is one of the songs she co-wrote with Cozz for the collaborative album Revenge of the Dreamers II. On October 21, 2016 her EP Pho was released. Ari Lennox was a guest on J. Cole's Change, and she performed as part of the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour as the opening act. In 2018, she appeared in two of her songs with labelmates EarthGang for Nothing but the Best. And Bas On Icarus. Ari Lennox dropped her first track Whipped Cream off of Shea Butter Baby on July 16. A music video followed then followed by a short video in September. The second single she released was called Grampa on the 9th of November. Then, on November 13, she released two additional singles entitled No One and Pdigree. Shea Butter Baby was released as her first single on the 26th of February, 2019, to accompany the album Creed II. Shea Butter Baby was featured along with Cole as part of the Creed II sound track on the 16th of November. In February of 2019 her music video to the track debuted. The track has garnered over three million YouTube views within a week. In December 2018, she performed as a supporting act on From East Atlanta With Love Tour. From East Atlanta With Love Tour in conjunction with 6LACK.
